Director Nancy Kates was invited to participate on a panel about Sontag’s Jewish identity at the 43rd annual Association for Jewish Studies conference in Washington, DC. Kates presented excerpts from Regarding Susan Sontag and engaged in lively discussion about Sontag’s “Jewish closet.” Other panelists included our advisor Nancy K. Miller, film scholar E. Ann Kaplan of Stony Brook, and Ann Pellegrini of NYU, who teaches performance and queer theory. The panel was chaired by Laura Levitt of Temple University.

Co-producer Rachel Antell spent three days at Reel Change: Managing Social Issue Film Campaigns, an interactive three-day training on creating integrated and powerful engagement campaigns for social issue documentaries. The residency was co-sponsored by Working Films and The Fledgling Fund.

Director Nancy Kates has been invited to attend the Sundance Institute’s Creative Producing Summit for 3 days in July. We are very excited to participate in the Summit and take advantage of its myriad resources for planning the creation and distribution of our film.
